Carla Valentine is a Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologistand through the course of her 8 year full-time career she carried out autopsies on Coronial, hospital and forensic cases. This work also included CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) and other ‘high risk’ post-mortems such as SARS, Swine Flu and CJD. In her spare time she studied Forensic Anthropology which led her to excavate plague graves in Venice and WWI graves in Belgium, as well as medieval burials in Chester. She is now the Technical Curator of Barts Pathology Museum, restoring the 5000 anatomical specimens to their former glory and teasing stories from the dead in a different way. She is also researching our relationship with human remains and studying for an MA in Museum Cultures with a focus on Exhibiting the Body. Her book, Past Mortems, is due out March 2017 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
