Bringing together over 15 years’ experience in the birth world, midwife and author Clemmie Hooper and birth educator and yesmum® founder Hollie de Cruz are joining forces to present "In The Beginning", an exploration of their insights into the world of birth.
This afternoon workshop will see birth being explored from both a physiological and emotional point of view. Aiming to dispel some myths about what really happens when a woman brings her child into the world, Clemmie and Hollie will be discussing the effects of the medicalisation of birth, and their experience in helping women to reclaim their own innate power and wisdom on their journey to becoming mothers.
Clemmie will be sharing her experience as a case loading midwife and the wonderful benefits of being able to provide woman-centred care by building relationships in the community, whilst Hollie will offer insight into the importance of a more empowering birth education system that sees women and their partners being equipped with the tools to be calm and present in birth, and the inevitable effects that has on their life as a new family.
There will also be a special guest sharing how the healing home birth of her second child resolved the trauma of her first over-medicalised and disempowering experience.
The workshop will be informal and is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about birth. It will be followed by a Q&A with Clemmie and Hollie and refreshments will be provided.
